The Essentials:   Getaway House

Tiny house in the woods from Getaway.House

Put together inherent coziness and design minimalism and you've got my perfect pair. I'm constantly on the search of physical manifestations of this combination, from clothes to bedding to home accents to travel accommodations.

Enter in Getaway.House, a new travel site that allows you to book mini-mobile-microcabins. Think of it as Tiny Homes meets Dwell Magazine meets AirBnB.

Visitors have the ability to pick from a host of tiny homes placed in secret locations 2 hours away from either Boston or New York. Each cabin comes with basic modern luxuries while still maintaining basic, rustic charm: large windows that look out onto peaceful northern woods, basic appliances, and, most importantly, no wifi.

Bookings happen fast, and most weekends are occupied well into the summer. But rest assured I'll be watching the calendar like a hawk, waiting for a weekend when I can declutter, disconnect, and spend a few glorious days in a Getaway House.
