Quite a few rounds of this versatile tote bag have been going through our studio this month, and many have already found their way to new homes. Today, we’ll see how the side collars are assembled on a black tote that is slated to be finished by week’s end.
Pieces return again and again to assembly throughout production, each time for a different purpose. Once the large side pieces of this bag are cut and matched with their side-collar strips, they go over to assembly to be meticulously measured and put into place.
Using a ruler fitted with a mildly adhesive double-sided tape, our artisans are able to place and secure the collars in perfect and uniform fashion every time. The side collars not only help to give this tote an aesthetic framing, but also aid in the structure and strength of the bag. Once secure, they will head over to stitching to be bonded permanently with their new partner for life.
