“Pura vida” perfectly sums up the way Ticos—aka, Costa Ricans—live. While the phrase literally means “pure life,” it takes on a whole new connotation in this country. It can be used to say hello or goodbye, to express that things are good, or to wish someone well. It completely encapsulates the way of life that Ticos embody. Not surprisingly, Costa Rica has been named one of the happiest countries in the world, and for good reason. The residents have a simple, optimistic, and relaxed approach to life. All is well, hakuna matata, pura vida!
The dazzling coastal town of Tamarindo totally exemplifies this saying. From the soft sands to the perfectly crested waves and lush vegetation, this spot is a true oasis. Just to breathe in the air is invigorating. Tamarindo has a subdued hustle-and-bustle during the day but a vibrant nightlife once the sun sets.
