Founded in the 1950s, the Imprimerie du Marais is a delightfully unique letterpress shop in (as the name suggests) the district of Paris known for being “a bastion of artisan workshops.” From silkscreen to foiling and embossing to laminating, the various ateliers under the company umbrella work to create some of the most imaginative and beautiful printed materials you could ever hope to find. The Imprimerie’s designs have caught the eye of many a renowned brand within Paris and beyond, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why.

This studio has a real focus on individual creativity, giving artisans the freedom to run with their ideas in ways that yield nothing but stunning results. I find it so great that instead of following antiquated tradition—on which it would be easy to skate by—everyone is encouraged to find new ways of doing things while still paying tribute to the core essence of their art. And, best of all, the artisans established in their craft at the Imprimerie du Marais apprentice the younger set so that craft stands no chance of dying out. Kind of like our studio, in fact.

All the more reason to covet the gorgeously-done cards and prints found in their shop.
