The Essentials:   Reformation

Anyone who knows me knows I love a good wrap dress. If it’s covered in florals? Even better. I saw one such dress recently and thought, “I need this more than I’ve needed anything, ever.” Maybe that was a slight exaggeration, but the feeling pushed me to find out where it came from, and so I stumbled upon Reformation. The Los Angeles-based brand churns out some of the most covet-worthy pieces I’ve come across in a while, but that’s not so unusual. What’s different is that they’re making it all using transparent, eco-friendly methods while paying their employees fair wages and even using deadstock or vintage fabrics when possible.

As founder Yael Aflalo says, “There’s a serious problem with sustainability and fashion…If we can change the fact that fashion is the 2nd or 3rd largest polluter in the world, that’s a really big accomplishment.” This is something I’ve become more and more attuned to since working at Lotuff—sustainable fashion is so important in today’s fast fashion-oriented world, and I love when I find out a brand I’m already interested in has a similar mission to ours.

Besides all that, Reformation is also highly focused on the fit of their clothing and ensuring that many of their silhouettes will work on multiple body types. The more women who have the opportunity to wear their gorgeous designs, the better. I mean, every single one needs to be in my closet yesterday. And probably yours, too. Floral dresses for everyone!
